By: Dewey Halverson

The 1970’s and 80’s were witness to an era in Alaska’s history that premiered its major sporting event-The Iditarod. With all its drama, innovation, challenge , and reckless abandon, the race was born. In the thick of it was Burt Bomhoff, a musher, administrator, and statesman for the Last Great Race.

Happy trails, Dewey Halverson

Dewey is a nine time finisher with multiple top ten finishes including 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th. He won the Half Way Award, The Gold Coast Trophy and was awarded the coveted Sportsmanship Award.
